Registration as a RPEQ is formal recognition of the qualification and competency of an engineer in the State of Queensland.

In Queensland, any engineer wanting to undertake professional engineering services in or for Queensland is legally required to register as a RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer Queensland)

The Queensland Registration Scheme is a co-regulatory model where assessment is undertaken by an approved assessment entity prior to the engineer applying for registration with the Board of Professional Engineers Queensland (BPEQ). BPEQ  recognises several areas of engineering including major disciplines such as Civil, Electrical, Mining and Structural engineering and specialist areas such as In-service Inspection of Amusement Rides and Devices, and Petroleum engineering. The area of engineering (or areas – RPEQs can be registered in multiple engineering areas) a RPEQ is registered in will depend on their qualification and competency and be determined during the assessment process.

Professionals Australia (PA) is an approved assessment entity, authorised to undertake assessment for registration in Queensland for members and non- members in the following disciplines:

  • Civil
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Structural
  • Geotechnical
  • Chemical
  • IT&T

We offer several application types depending on your membership status with PA:

Application Types Available:

PA Members

  1. Standalone QLD assessment: Exclusive to registration in Queensland
  2. Dual assessment: Simultaneous assessment for RPEng + RPEQ registration at the same time. Dual assessments don't prolong the process beyond a standalone QLD assessment; it simply means that if successful, your outcome letter will recognise your assessment for both schemes.
  3. PA member with pre-existing RPEng status: If you hold active RPEng status as a PA member, please contact us. You can request an outcome report letter to submit to the BPEQ and we will determine if you are eligible.

  1. Standalone QLD assessment: Exclusive to registration in Queensland.

We strongly encourage you to join PA, where your assessment is complimentary as part of membership, granting access to a myriad of member benefits such as:

Free CPD and access to a digital CPD log and additional benefits, workplace support and member discounts.
