COVID-19 – New Restrictions for Victoria

From 11.59pm Wednesday 5 August 2020, the Victorian government introduced several Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne, which will drastically affect the way many workplaces operate. This includes the introduction of the ‘Permitted Work Scheme’. Under the scheme, employers for Permitted Work Premises may operate with employees on-site if it is not reasonably practicable for the employee to work from home and the employer and employee comply with the Directions currently in force, including the Workplace Directions and the Permitted Worker Permit Scheme Directions. Employers and employees who breach the directions and requirements under the scheme may face fines of up to nearly $100,000 and $20,000 respectively.

For the rest of Victoria, including Mitchell Shire, Stage 3 restrictions apply from 11.59pm Wednesday 5 August 2020.
